Monetizing Content in the New Digital World: A 3Pillar Production at the NAB Show

If you’re heading to the NAB Show in Las Vegas next month, don’t miss our discussion and workshop on April 9th at 10:30 AM on one of the most pressing issues for media and entertainment companies today – how to monetize their content in a world with an endless array of digital entertainment options.

How can media and entertainment companies drive monetization in the era of Netflix, HBOGo, and DVR, not to mention Flappy Bird, Pirate Bay, and Candy Crush? That’s the $64,000 question that we will be asking and looking to answer in our discussion and workshop.

We believe that the path to monetization starts with companies thinking about the digital ecosystem holistically, not just by platform, device, or distribution channel. The session will begin with an exploration of how attendees’ companies are monetizing content before delving into a hands-on workshop to tackle a content monetization challenge of the audience’s choosing.

We’ll split the audience into teams and work to fill out a Business Model Canvas (see below) that would help, say, Acme Corporation figure out how to tackle monetization opportunities presented by in-app advertising, a video-on-demand portal, or a local news station. Teams will be responsible for figuring out important aspects of any business model, like anticipated sources of cost, revenue, partners, and customer segments.
