Jessica Hall, Director of Product Consulting at 3Pillar Global, had an article titled “Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to accept negative feedback” published on Technical.ly today.

In the article, Jessica walks through the five stages of accepting negative customer feedback, and how to use it to advance in your career.

The five stages of acceptance are as follows:

  1. Denial
  2. Anger
  3. Consideration
  4. Panic
  5. Excitement

“Accepting negative feedback is about more than improving the products we made,” Jessica argues. It’s about growing careers by hearing – often and clearly – “what we are going well, what needs to be improved, [and] what skills or experience we’re missing.” She stresses that this feedback is especially vital for women to receive so as to identify areas within which to improve.
