3Pillar’s Cipri Balea has been selected to speak at the Romanian Testing Conference 2014 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Cipri’s presentation will take place on May 15th from 9:30-10:30 in the Ambassador room of the Grand Hotel Napoca and is titled “Automated Performance Testing of a Desktop Application.”
In his presentation, Cipri will walk the audience through how he and his QA team conducted automated performance testing for a custom, secure web browser to see how its performance compared to native Internet Explorer. Cipri wrote an in-depth blog post on the subject titled “Automated Browser Performance Testing Using Python and AutoIT,” and his presentation will cover some of the same ground.
Some of the metrics that the team set up automated tests to measure include startup and shutdown time for a browser containing 1500 saved bookmarks; local webpage load time, memory & CPU usage while browsing; and timing the operation of saving a bookmark, going to the homepage, and loading the saved bookmark. The tests also needed to be run repeatedly on multiple machines. To automate the tests, the team needed a tool that was able to interact with the UI elements of Internet Explorer: menus, menu items, buttons, and shortcut keys. They found the tool in AutoIT.
This is the second year in a row that 3Pillar has been represented by a speaker at the conference. Last year, Romana Suciu and Dan Claudiu Pop gave a killer presentation on Behavior-Driven Development in Python for a client that streams 30MM videos a month.
