Cata Stef, 3Pillar’s SVP of International Operations, recently sat down with Otilia Haraga of Business Review to reflect on his efforts to grow the company in Romania and India, as well as the future of expansion within the software development sector. The article, “3Pillar Global Romania CEO: ‘Universities can’t train enough IT students,’” discusses the changing face of expansion and acquisition in such a demand-saturated sector.
Cata shares with his own entrepreneurial experience starting a software company in Cluj. This company was borne out of his desire to change the standard of working environments throughout Romania in an effort to put more focus on individual improvement and success.
I wanted two things: to be independent and to be able to create a working environment that was different from what existed at that time in Cluj, one where each person could be important through their contribution, where experience can be individual and where one does not have the feeling of being a little cog in a big wheel.
Stef points to the acquisition of that company by LeverPoint, which would go on to become 3Pillar, as the catalyst for wide-scale growth and success.
Stef uses this example from his own career trajectory to outline how much the software development sector has expanded in Romania and India. His work as a bridge between the two countries themselves and between them and the headquarters in the United States has given him key insights on how to promote successful expansion in companies that span continents.
