Big Data = Massive Opportunity
Comscore is a trusted currency for planning, transacting, and evaluating media across platforms, covering a data footprint that combines digital, linear TV, over-the-top and theatrical viewership intelligence with advanced audience insights.
Opportunity
Modernization is a requirement
To modernize and streamline one of the newly acquired data assets, Comscore and 3Pillar Global teamed up to review and scope out the effort which included modernizing an outdated infrastructure, managing more than 1.5TBs of daily clickstream data and 1 Petabyte of total storage. 3Pillar evaluated and assessed the project, designed and executed a proof of concept and advised Comscore to migrate the data assets to the cloud and modernize the data pipeline to optimize cloud spend.
Solution
Optimization takes expertise
Partnering with Comscore, 3Pillar planned various cost optimization approaches to minimize spend.
- Identified areas where cost reduction could be maximized.
- Continuously tested and measured the efficacy of the initiative.
- Ensured the right-sizing of the cloud environment.
- Selected the appropriate cloud purchasing options to provide ongoing cost efficiency.
- Enabled architecture changes that resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars savings annually.
Outcome
Seeing immediate returns
The team successfully migrated Comscore’s data asset to the cloud while keeping up with the latest cloud techniques, resulting in a 50% reduction in spend. With this reduction in cost, Comscore now has more flexibility to add data from other providers, scalably, to increase and diversify their revenue for the data asset.
